Sports and leisure centres offer a range of activities for children and families helping to encourage a healthy and active lifestyle.  They offer children the opportunity to learn a new skill, make friends, burn off some energy and engage in sport and play.

Active Lifestyle Centres

Circadian Trust works in close partnership with South Gloucestershire Council to manage leisure facilities across South Gloucestershire.  There are five Active Lifestyle Centres across South Gloucestershire. These are situated in Yate, Thornbury, Kingswood, Longwell Green and Bradley Stoke.

Children’s activities - Active Lifestyle Centres offer a wide range of activities for all ages and abilities on a weekly basis. All activities are run by qualified instructors who specialise in their chosen sport.  See the Active Lifestyles website for timetable information.

Children’s clubs - Children’s clubs are taught by qualified coaches who have a real passion for teaching children and their chosen sport.  This includes sports such as swimming, martial arts, football and fencing.

XHeight Adventure Climb - XHeight Adventure Climb features 16 challenging themed walls and our thrill-seeking 5 metre high Giants Staircase. Each wall is different and offers a unique climbing experience. XHeight is suitable for children aged 5 years and over, teenagers and adults of all ages.

Children’s parties - Active Lifestyle Centres understand how important birthday parties are. They offer a fantastic range of parties including soft play, XHeight indoor climbing and pool parties. 

Explore Adventure Play - Explore Adventure Play is suitable for children aged 0-9 years, and features its own dedicated adventure play area for toddlers. (Available only at Bradley Stoke)

Softplay - Softplay opens daily offering a range of fun and challenging activities. (Available only at Kingswood and Yate).

Swimstars lessons - Active Lifestyle Centres offer the Learn to Swim programme. This follows Swim England’s world-leading syllabus.  This has been designed to ensure swimming lessons for all ages meet a high and consistent standard.

Accessibility for children with special educational needs or disabilities (SEND)

The Active Lifestyle Centres aim to make their centres inclusive for everyone:       

  • The pools are accessible to everyone at all times.  In addition, they also offer set sessions for people with disabilities.

  • The gyms are accessible to everyone aged over 11 years. They offer a range of equipment which has been designed or adapted for people with different levels of mobility.  

  • There are also social sessions and groups such as MS, Parkinson and Osteoarthritis classes.
