Juvenile idiopathic arthritis (JIA)

Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis (JIA) means there is inflammation in a child’s joints that isn’t caused by any other condition. It refers to a number of different types of arthritis that occur under the age of 16.

JIA is more than just painful joints. There are a number of symptoms that may be experienced and age is a big factor in this, as younger children may experience symptoms that they are not able to verbalise.
